Offaly XC 2018 Day 1, Even aged juveniles, Masters, Novice and Junior

The 1st round of the 2018 Offaly Cross Country Championships – Novice and Masters, was hosted by Ferbane Ac and held in Gallen Priory Grounds on Sunday last. The senior races were followed by the Even Ages Juvenile races.
The ladies were first off with both Masters and Novices running together covering the 4000m distance. Nita Mcloughlin was first lady home and took the Master O35 title. 2nd Master was Bridget O’Sullivan from Ferbane AC, and Ursula O’Reilly (Naomh Mhuire) was 3rd. Mary Daly was 1st o50 and Kathleen Delaney (Birr AC) 1st o60. Tullamore Harriers took the Masters team prize.
Dympna Fox took the Novice title for 2018 with a super run, followed by Jennifer Burke 2nd and Bridget Fox 3rd and the 3 ladies sealed the Novice team prize for Tullamore Harriers.
The men covered 6k and Paul Buckley (Ferbane AC) reclaiming the Master title. Pauric Berry (Tullamore Harriers) was 2nd and 3rd finisher was Derek Nugent (Ferbane AC). Brendan Abbott (Tullamore Harriers) was 1st o50 and Johnny Feery (Tullamore Harriers) was 1st o60. Frank Kilrane (Edenderry AC) was 1st o70. Tullamore Harriers took the team prize here too.
Mathew Molloy (Tullamore Harriers) had a great run to take the Offaly Novice win. Mark Donegan(Tullamore Harriers) was 2nd and Birr AC athlete Joe Dempsey 3rd. Again Tullamore Harriers took the team prize .
Well done to everyone who lined out with some competing in their first cross country race. Next weekend the Intermediate and Uneven ages will compete in Edenderry and it is hoped that there will be a good show from all the clubs in Offaly.
