It wasn’t just the wind turbines generating energy at the Mount Lucas Windfarm last Sunday. There was some fantastic output from our 244 finishers in the Ambrose Hickey memorial 5k with Naomh Mhuire AC Daingean hosting a great event. Nadine Donegan continued her fine form with a 3rd consecutive victory in the league in a time of 18:47. All three places on the ladies podium went to Tullamore Harriers with her teammates Sinead Rigney 2nd (19:05) & Nita McLoughlin 3rd, just dipping under the 20minutes in 19:59. Nadine’s day continued as she took a detour on the way home to the Athlone IT track where she won the 1500m race in the ladies division 1 national track and field league in a time of 4:59.08. In the men’s race Mick Fogarty of Ferbane AC continued his great form to claim his 3rd win of this year’s series, in a time of 16:06. He didn’t have it all his own way with Tony Reilly (Portlaoise AC) 16:17 and Paul Mitchell (Tullamore Harriers) (16:20) in hot pursuit.
