Offaly Athletics 4 mile Road Race Championships
On Friday evening last, the Killeigh Schoolboys and girls Soccer Club hosted the annual 4 mile road race. This race was run in conjunction with the Offaly Athletics Middle Distance Running Challenge and was Race 1 in the series.
300 finishers covered the undulating course and with some excellent times posted, obviously making light work of the climbs and drags along the route. The hill at mile 3 was a talking point afterwards – as it is every year!.
Mick Fogarty (Ferbane AC) and Caroline Donnellan (Edenderry Ac) were the winners with Derek Nugent (Ferbane Ac) and Aisling O’Connor 2nd and Brendan Donagher (Naomh Mhuire Ac) and Pauline Curley (Tullamore Harriers) taking the bronze position. 1st Junior -Cian Martin (Tullamore Harriers) 1st o40- Jimmy Coughlan(Naomh Mhuire Ac) and Joan Flynn(Mullingar Harriers) 1st o45- Glen Finlay and Dympna Fox (both Tullamore Harriers) 1st o50- Liam Byrne and Rita Daly (both Tullamore Harriers) 1st o60- Johnny Feery (Tullamore Harriers) and Eileen Kenny(Mullingar Harriers) 1st o70- Jim Langan (Tullamore Harriers)
