Good numbers turned up in Lough Boora with the aim of raising funds for Irish Autism Action, Laois Offaly Families for Autism, Offaly School of Special Education and Lough Boora Parklands. Will Faulkner of Midlands 103 got both races underway & Will himself did the 5k dressed as giant cockroach.
In the 10k race Paul Mitchell (Tullamore Harriers) followed up his 5k win in Clara last week with a convincing performance where he lead from start to finish winning in a time of 34:25. 2nd place had looked as though it was going to Naomh Mhuire Daingean athlete Brendan Donagher who had steady increased the gap to the persuing Tom Lupton (Portlaoise AC). However amidst strong head winds in the final third of the race, Tom finish stronger in 35:21 with Brendan clocking 35:31. The Female winner Pauline Curley (Tullamore Harriers) 37:58 was close to 3min clear of her nearest rival Emma Kenny (Shannonbridge) 40:52 with Caroline Donnellan (Edenderry AC) 42:32 in 3rd.
In the 5k race Mark Hackett of St. Michaels took the male prize with Ruth O’Loughlin of Naas AC finishing 1st lady.
