The event will take place in Gow ran on 1st May\, 2017 with a 12:00 pm start – please see attached brochure for information on the event and approx. time of remainder of races.

The event will be chip timed by My Run Results and results will be compile d on the day and medals awarded. I ask that a representative from all comp eting clubs/counties stay until results have been finalised to collect med als for their athletes.

Registration is online via Athletics Irela nd website and a link will be posted on athleticsleinster.org as soon as t he event has opened. It will also be posted on Athletics Leinster FB page. Entries close on Thursday 27th April\, 2017. It is important to choose co rrect entry option before entering your teams ie payment by cheque or by c redit card to avoid having to duplicate your efforts. If paying by cheque – a note must be forwarded with payment to address on flyer stating name o f club\, individual and/or team entries you are paying for no later than F riday 28th April\, 2017. Master Teams – it is important when entering team s to ensure that team members have been entered in the correct age group i e O35 or O50. There will be no changes on the day to entered teams. \nNew Route for 2017: start on the main Cha rleville Road\, just up from Healy Street\, go all the way out to the Fing erboard and turn immediately left onto Balard Road. Follow the road right around and onto Charleville road once again. From here\, head back towards town\, turning into the Tullamore Harriers stadium and finishing on the t artan track. The course is a flat course with a slight downhill for the fi nal 2k.

Bertie Quinn Track and Field 2017
\nThis year marks the fourth edition the B ertie Quinn Track and Field\, organised by Tullamore Harriers.
\nEach of the first three years saw around 200 athletes competing in the meet an d there have been some fine performances by Ireland’s best youth and junio r athletes\, with multiple standards ran for European and World championsh ips in these age grades. The competition has also acted as a platform for young athletes from Offaly and surrounding counties to try to improve thei r personal bests at the midlands venue.
\nEach year the performance o f the meet is marked by presenting the athlete concerned with the Bertie Q uinn Memorial Shield. Padraig Moran (Mullingar Harriers)\, Mark Milner (Tu llamore Harriers) and Kevin McGrath (Bohermeen AC) are the three talented young runners who have won the award to date.
\nThis year we are chan ging the format for the event significantly. Firstly we are adding events for athletes under the age of sixteen for the first time in an ‘Open Sport s’ type format with races and field events for athletes from ‘Under 9’ to ‘Under 16’. Secondly we are hoping to build on the success of the existing program of events by having races sponsored. Details of the sponsorship a re below.

\nBertie Quinn was a juvenile coach with the club from 1990 to 1995 having returned to his native Tullamore after spells working in En gland and then in Shannon. He coached many young athletes to county\, prov incial and national success\, with a few managing to represent Ireland.
